Day 3 - Kansas to South Dakota

Partly Cloudy, 50's, windy

We planned to leave at 8:00 a.m., but after a GREAT breakfast in Janice's motorhome, we left at 9:00 a.m.  Not a problem.  Great company and great food.

Before we could leave, David cleaned the windows on our truck and on the motorhome.  I think he's the only one who could reach it all!

The "girls" David is traveling with decided to have a photo made just before we left.

Jenny and Chrissy; Janice and Pumpkin; and Kay and Little Bit.  You'll notice Chrissy's head is being held away....she didn't like the other dogs any better this day.

Back on the Interstate and leaving Kansas!

We hadn't been gone very far when we had another run-in with another truck!  Small space and a very loud scream from me!  Janice and Kay got to see this one as they were following us.  Sheesh!

Just down the road we saw another state sign.  Back to Missouri!

Wait!  Back to Missouri?  Yep, the navigator says this is the way to head north to Alaska!  We ended up on a bypass that worked out great in missing all the morning traffic.  North!

We passed several sobering signs:

Motorcycles are hard to see - Look Twice!

245 Road Deaths in Missouri this year.  62% unbuckled.

Makes you think!

At 11:39 a.m. we passed into Iowa!

It is still windy here.  The lakes we've passed have white caps on them.  Makes for tough driving ( so I hear).

We got off the I-80 at Council Bluffs and were greeted with this artwork at the exit:

There is even a Facebook for this artwork:  The Ugly Sculptures in Council Bluffs, IA over I-80. Click the link and read some of the comments!

This one was funny to us.

It was time for fuel and lunch! After a quick lunch it was back on the road!

For those coffee drinkers who read the blog, you'll enjoy this photo.

South Dakota at 3:37 p.m. Notice the change in the speed limit! No way we drive the rigs that fast - or maybe just David doesn't. LOL

We arrived at the KOA in Souix Falls, SD at 5:19 p.m.

Dinner together and some time outside and then to bed.  Leaving early for our across the state of South Dakota tour tomorrow.

Mileage at the end of the day 1,175.  We're not in Kansas any more!

TTFN!

Jenny :)
